What We Do

Signage That Guides & Impresses

From a single reception sign to a full site wayfinding system, we design, produce and install everything in-house. Whether you need directional arrows, floor graphics, door signs, car park layouts or large external totems, our team delivers a cohesive, professional result.

Good wayfinding does more than show people where to go — it communicates your values. A well-signed space feels organised, welcoming and trustworthy. Poor signage creates frustration and undermines confidence in your brand.

Based in Basingstoke — we design, print and install wayfinding signage for offices, retail parks, hospitals, schools, leisure centres and large residential developments across Hampshire and the South East.

Got Questions?

Wayfinding Signage FAQs

What is wayfinding signage and do I need it? +

Wayfinding signage is any signage that helps people navigate a space — from directional arrows and room signs to floor graphics and external totems. If you run a site where visitors, customers or staff need to find their way around, good wayfinding makes a real difference.

Poor signage causes confusion, frustration and a poor first impression. A clear, well-designed system improves the experience for everyone and reflects the professionalism of your organisation. We can advise on whether a full system or a few key signs is the right approach for your space.

What types of buildings and sites do you produce wayfinding signage for? +

We work across a wide range of environments including offices and business parks, retail parks and shopping centres, healthcare facilities and hospitals, schools, colleges and universities, leisure centres and sports facilities, residential developments and housing sites, and event venues.

Whether it's a single building or a large multi-site campus, we design systems that work for your specific environment and user base.

What materials do you use for wayfinding signs? +

Material choice depends on the location and application. For indoor signs we commonly use acrylic, aluminium composite (dibond), PVC foam board and brushed aluminium. For outdoor and external signs we use powder-coated aluminium, dibond and weatherproof ACM panels built to withstand the UK climate.

We'll recommend the right material for each sign type during the design and quoting process — balancing durability, aesthetics and budget.

Can you match our existing brand guidelines and colours? +

Absolutely. Brand consistency is one of the most important aspects of a wayfinding system. If you provide your brand guidelines, logo files and colour references (Pantone, CMYK or RAL), we'll design the entire system to match precisely.

If you don't have formal brand guidelines, our design team can work with your existing materials to create a cohesive visual identity for your signage scheme.

Do you carry out site surveys before quoting? +

Yes — for most wayfinding projects we'll arrange a free site visit to take accurate measurements, assess the environment and map out all the sign locations. This ensures our quote is accurate and our designs are practical before you commit to anything.

For smaller, straightforward enquiries we can sometimes quote from plans or photos, but a site visit is always our preferred starting point for larger schemes.

How long does a wayfinding project typically take? +

Timescales depend on the scope of the project. A small suite of office room signs can typically be turned around in 5–10 working days from design sign-off. A full wayfinding system for a large site — covering external totems, car park signage, floor graphics and internal directories — may take 3–6 weeks from survey to installation.

We'll always give you a clear production and installation schedule at the quoting stage so you can plan accordingly.

Do you install the signs as well as produce them? +

Yes — we handle design, production and installation entirely in-house. We don't use subcontractors for installation, which means one point of contact throughout and full accountability for the finished result.

Our installation team is experienced working in occupied buildings and can coordinate with your facilities manager to minimise disruption to your staff and visitors.

Can you produce floor graphics as part of a wayfinding scheme? +

Yes. Floor graphics are a highly effective wayfinding tool — especially in busy public-facing environments like retail, healthcare, leisure and education. We use durable, anti-slip laminates that are safe underfoot and withstand heavy footfall.

Floor graphics can be used for directional arrows, zone identification, social distancing layouts, branded pathways or purely decorative purposes. We'll advise on the right specification for your floor surface and usage.

What areas do you cover for wayfinding signage installation? +

We're based in Basingstoke and regularly install wayfinding signage across Hampshire and the South East — including Winchester, Andover, Newbury, Fleet, Farnborough, Aldershot, Guildford, Reading, Southampton and surrounding areas.

For larger projects we're also happy to work further afield. If you're unsure whether we cover your location, just get in touch and we'll let you know.

How do I get a quote for wayfinding signage? +

The easiest way is to use our enquiry form — just give us a brief description of your project, site location and any relevant plans or photos. We'll come back to you quickly, usually within one working day.

Alternatively, call us on 01256 636 266 or email info@doodlesigns.com and we'll be happy to discuss your requirements and arrange a site visit.
